Papaver walpolii

The list below (posted as an Adobe Acrobat document for download to the left) contains vascular plants that the Alaska Natural Heritage Program considers rare within Alaska. For definitions, go to Global and State Ranks.

Detailed information on select species can be found in the "Alaska Rare Plant Field Guide".

Only one plant has any formal status under the U.S. Endangered Species Act - Polystichum aleuticum- listed as an endangered species.

This list is updated regularly, so check back here to be sure of having the most current edition.

We actively solicit comments on and additions to the list. We would be especially grateful for information on particular locations or new sightings for any of these taxa. Contact one of our botanists at anrl@uaa.alaska.edu (Rob Lipkin) or afmlc2@uaa.alaska.edu (Matt Carlson). You can submit sightings and locations of rare/threatened plants by clicking here for a survey form to download. Please fax the completed form to Rob Lipkin at 907-257-2789 or mail to Rob Lipkin, Botanist, Alaska Natural Heritage Program, 707 A Street, Anchorage, AK 99501.
